Mama Roja Restaurant, 9219 Lake Hefner Pkwy -February 12, 2010

IrmasThe 5Star Dinner Club spent Valentine's weekend surrounded by flavorful salsa, chips, and all things Mexican at Lake Hefner's Mama Roja Restaurant. Bajama Breeze was the former occupant of this building. I don't know if Mama Roja renovated when they moved in, but it looked and felt distinctly Mexican. One club member was impressed by the elegant women's restroom. We were seated in a room with a great view of the Lake. The room opens up in good weather. We did wait a few minutes. I believe there is always a wait. While one of our members was not as impressed by the food as the rest, we all agreed that our waiter, a bubbly Brandon, was one of the best we have ever had. Service was excellent. Two members shared a special fajita dinner with ribs, shrimp, and chicken which was excellent. The quesadillas, enchilda dinner, and the Sonora mango salad were good, also. Unfortunately, one member did not like his chicken tacos. He said they had no flavor. Although noisey, Mama Rojas does boast of a nice lakeside view and mostly quality food. Also, it's a little more expensive than most Mexican fare. It tied with Alfredo's with a 4 out of 5-star rating.
